The Sustainable Furnishings Council will host and co-host several events at the upcoming High Point Market.

On Saturday, Oct. 19, SFC welcomes one and all to enjoy a light breakfast and discuss The State of Sustainability in Home Furnishings. SFC will also present updates on various initiatives, including the Wood Furniture Scorecard, “What’s it made of?” and others.

Halting deforestation is critical. Which furniture companies are working to protect forests around the world? SFC celebrates them with the release of the 2019 Wood Furniture Scorecard. We’ll have a lively and informative discussion of the results, featuring the top scoring company: Cisco Brothers. Also attending will be representatives of other top scoring companies, and representatives from the ENGO's that made it possible: the National Wildlife Federation and the Forest Stewardship Council. Speakers include Cisco Pinedo of Cisco Brothers; Jason Grant, consultant to National Wildlife Federation; and Roger Taylor, US South Regional Manager for Forest Stewardship Council. SFC Executive Director Susan Inglis will moderate.

Dr. Paisley is a Conservation Biologist and also the founder of her own wallpaper and textile company, Newton Paisley. She established the company not only to provide beautiful surfaces, but also to tell the stories of neglected and endangered species. Learn why that matters, and how working with SFC can enhance your choices in products and projects.

Art resource Zoe Bios Creative announces it will team up with the Sustainable Furnishings Council (SFC) to co-host a special October High Point Market event on Monday, Oct. 21, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. in the High Point Tile and Marble Building, located at 108-110 S. Elm St.

Dr. Susanna Paisley is set to present ‘Biodiversity in Design,’ a topic the conservation biologist-turned-artist is intimately familiar with.

Without formal art training, Paisley began the practice of illustrating her field notes in the tradition of scientists like Maria Sibylla Merian, who created detailed, sensitive depictions of the flora and fauna they studied.

Now, she translates her illustrations into a collection of fabric and wall coverings sold to the residential, commercial and bespoke design trade under the label Newton Paisley. Each pattern portrays the beauty of neglected and endangered species, and a percentage of proceeds are donated to nature conservation.

“When we first encountered Susy’s illustrations, we were impressed by how her art is a bridge to consciousness raising,” says Minh Ngyuen, co-founder, Zoe Bios Creative. “Her illustrations are a powerful reminder that we are all responsible for our planet’s future.”

Since the business launched in London in 2016, Newton Paisley has been recognized with the Kent Creative Design Award; it has been included in 50 Highlights of London Design Week; featured in Homes and Gardens, and secured top accolades in New York, including Best in Show in Wall Coverings from the IFDA and ICFF in May 2018, and was among the Top Picks at ICFF, named by Architectural Digest.

Paisley comes by her passion for textiles naturally, with roots traceable to Scottish tweed weavers and merchants, and to High Point, NC’s cotton and textile legacy.

Her talk at Zoe Bios Creative will reference Paisley’s collection entitled ‘The Carolina Tree of Life.’ SFC Executive Director Susan Inglis will provide an introduction to the organization’s work and membership opportunities. Light refreshments will be served.

Zoe Bios Creative announced today that it will debut works from Trunk Archive and Stampa during the October High Point Market at the company’s new 3,000 square-foot showroom located at 108-110 S. Elm St. in High Point, NC.

The contemporary art resource will showcase images from world-renowned photographers through its partnership with New York-based Trunk Archive.

Trunk Archive is the image licensing agency responsible for some of the world’s most iconic visual imagery, representing top fashion, celebrity and cultural documentarians such as Annie Leibovitz, Bruce Weber, Patrick Demarchelier and Instagram-generation stars Inez and Vinoodh.

Zoe Bios Creative’s partnership with Stampa will highlight the work of established and emerging commercial illustrators.

Stampa was formed by sisters Stephanie Pesakoff, founder of Art Department Illustration Division, and Renee Cohen. They are responsible for the curated collection.

“We could not be more proud to represent Trunk Archive and Stampa at High Point Market, and to offer this caliber of art photography and illustration to our customers,” said Caitlin Dinkins, Co-founder of Zoe Bios Creative. “Our growth is linked to fostering meaningful collaborations like these.”
