Table lamps have taken a step forward in design construction and choices of materials. Lamplight is one of the simplest ways to add atmospheric layers to any room and can easily transform a room as dramatically as new paint. The new Cactus Table Lamp and matching vases are made of composite slathered in varied shades of green that read like verdigris. Visit Currey & Company at IHFC, M110 on Main Street during High Point Market.

The artisans who created the finish painstakingly applied the liquid to make each piece look aged and like real cactus. The lamp is topped with a natural oval linen shade which is so practical when you need a lamp that will fit in a tight space. The vases will add the perfect touch of nature to any room vignette plus all shades of green are having a moment in home décor.

The patterning on the surface of the Geologie Table Lamp takes great skill to create because it is glazed while it is on the potter’s wheel, which requires steady hand/eye coordination. Made of porcelain in a mix of beige, pale gray, and brown glazing, the layers represent the stratum of the earth’s core. It is topped with a textured beige shade which is held in place by a matching finial. With mid-century modern lines, the Lamartine Table Lamp has a poetic pattern that swirls along its surface with curving folds of green glass – all mouth-blown. The green lamp is topped with a box-pleated, natural linen drum shade.

The Weeping Sasaya Chandelier was inspired by bamboo leaves and the downward leaning masterpiece from nature: the weeping willow. The delicacy of the stems and the leaves on this lovely flowing fixture make it a graceful design statement for any space with biophilic details. The textured sage finish gives it a green hue representing the very best combination of calm and comfort that the natural world offers. The Rue de Bac Large Butterflies are encased specimens made of blue paper with black accents that are displayed within a clear glass dome. Sitting atop a wood base in a black finish, the bright sculptural object stands 16.5” tall. Named for the Parisian Street on which a famous French taxidermy is located, the artful butterflies that flutter in this sculpture would feel right at home in the cabinet of curiosities that holds some of the most remarkable wonders of entomology.

Additions to the Marjorie Skouras Collection

Marjorie Skouras’s love affair with Mexico and its people began at a young age. On her first visit to Mexico, she had an immediate connection with the country’s culture, and the flora and fauna found there. Today she lives on a ranch in the Yucatan Peninsula where her creativity is nourished by the environment, which is evident in the products she designs for Currey & Company.
This April, the company adds six new product designs to her collection. For the new Diego Chandelier, the story begins years ago when Ms. Skouras was a student at UCLA studying art history and pre-Columbian art. While a student, she spent time with a friend in Beverly Hills whose mother was a famous actress. The film star was a devoted art collector who owned a painting of women depicted with calla lilies by Mexican artist Diego Riveria. Marjorie was mesmerized by the painting with its powerful rendition of the flowers. Calla lilies along with agave varietals are evocative of Mexico and have influenced the designer with her new products.

Currey & Company Events – April 2024 High Point Market

April 12 – 16
Threads Pillow POP-UP with Eileen Applebaum
9AM to 6 PM Daily | Currey & Company, IHFC, M110 on Main Street
A new pillow collection with a vintage spirit will debut at April High Point Market. Threads is a curated collection of luxury, handcrafted pillows that celebrate traditional skills of master artisans from around the world. Designed to serve interior designers, retailers and other trade customers in a more streamlined, easy-to-use format, the site also celebrates the beauty of the company’s extensive product line with an intense focus on imagery.

“We have put a lot of effort into creating a streamlined, elegant ecommerce platform that meets our customers where they are,” said Jenny Heinzen York, Vice President of Marketing.”

Some new features and highlights:

• Showroom availability by product. Interested in seeing a piece in person, the new site will direct you to our trade showrooms where the piece is on display.
• Retail price and stock levels available before login.
• A new Favorites tool that is available pre-login, so designers can share the site with their customers without accessing trade pricing.
• A freight rate calculator, so there are no surprises at checkout. • Streamlined registration/application process that moves customers through our system more quickly and allows them to revisit and track an application status.
• Easier check-out and the ability to save multiple credit cards in a wallet.
“We have put a much greater emphasis on our photography, reshooting, re cropping, and investing in more angles so that our customers feel confident in what they are ordering from us. A cool zoom feature helps to highlight the fine details and finish-work that we are known for and helps to convey the value of what we create,” Heinzen York said.

Wed, 10 Apr 2024 15:33:17 +0000 dfalvey 8091 at https://www.furniturelightingdecor.com Spectra Home Expands Tamara Day Collection at High Point Market https://www.furniturelightingdecor.com/spectra-home-expands-tamara-day-collection-high-point-market Spectra Home Expands Tamara Day Collection at High Point Market dfalvey Wed, 04/10/2024 - 09:55

Following the positive reception of the Tamara Day by Spectra Home collection rollout at October High Point Market, Spectra Home is expanding the collection to include more family-friendly upholstery. Whether the comments are suggestions or stories that are touching, humorous or even quirky, we’re asking visitors to tell us what their furnishings — or the home furnishings industry — means to them. Together, we can preserve the unique spirit of what each of us calls home and the dynamic industry that furnishes it.”

Tell Us Your Story features easy-to-use technology that enables visitors to sit down, answer a few questions and record a memory, idea or inspiration relating to home furnishings and the role furniture and decorative accessories play in their lives. The booth Is self-contained and includes taping and editing capabilities so that visitors can record and review their messages.

Consumers will be asked questions like: What piece of furniture or home accent from your childhood holds the most memories? If you were moving to a desert island, what one home furnishings item would you take? What does your home mean to you? What is your favorite room, and why?

Industry members from all segments and all roles will explore questions like: What is your job and why do you like it? Why would you recommend this job to others? What is your favorite memory from your first home furnishings market? What do you love most about working in the home furnishings industry?
Visitors can explore the recorded memories and insights of other participants on a screen on the front of the booth, enabling stories to be easily shared and enjoyed.

To create more awareness of the many rewarding career opportunities available within home furnishings, the Hall of Fame will be able to create a new consumer-oriented website, where industry members will share their views on their jobs and their profession. The site will feature a range of content, including Q&As and other resources designed to help visitors better understand the wide variety of career paths available within the home furnishings industry.

“Our goal with this new consumer site is to attract new talent to our industry,” McNeill says. “Home furnishings aren’t often top-of-mind when it comes to choosing a career since it doesn’t have a high profile like the technology sector and some other professions. But when you look at home furnishings more closely, you see just how rich an opportunity it represents, with an abundance of exciting options across a wide range of disciplines, from tech, manufacturing and logistics to design, sales and marketing.”

There’s a myriad of career paths in the $150 billion world of home furnishings, McNeill adds — “and this new website will share that story with a much larger audience.”

Tue, 09 Apr 2024 13:09:13 +0000 dfalvey 8084 at https://www.furniturelightingdecor.com Nourison Home Debuts Expanded Collections at High Point Market https://www.furniturelightingdecor.com/nourison-home-debuts-expanded-collections-high-point-market Nourison Home Debuts Expanded Collections at High Point Market dfalvey Mon, 04/08/2024 - 15:48

Floor covering and home accents manufacturer Nourison Home is introducing new area rugs, custom rugs and home accessories at High Point Market.
