Leading luxury leather manufacturer, Bradington-Young, has announced a 75,000-square-foot expansion to the company’s Hickory, NC manufacturing facility. The expansion will bring the size of the plant to over 160,000 square feet and will enable the company to add production capacity for its growing luxury motion and reclining chair business.

The company also announced that it will relocate its corporate office and product development department to the newly expanded facility, which is anticipated to be completed by the end of the first quarter in 2019.

The manufacturing expansion will add approximately 50 percent to its annual production capacity over the course of the five-year ramp-up period, creating new jobs in both the Hickory facility and the company’s Cherryville, NC cut and sew plant, which will support the increased production volume. The company expects to add 35 employees over the next five years between the two plants.

“We are proud to be headquartered in Hickory and are thrilled to announce the growth of our business through this investment in our facility,” said Craig Young, President of Bradington-Young. “This expansion reflects our commitment to both the towns of Hickory and Cherryville and to providing our customers with domestically-produced products with the quality and craftsmanship they have come to expect from Bradington-Young.”

“Driving this expansion is the steady growth that we have experienced over the last several years, fueled by our growing luxury motion and reclining chair business,” he continued. “Our customers told us there was a market for domestically-produced motion based on what their consumers were requesting at the retail level. We listened, and combined with our own research, launched our luxury motion line in April 2014. It’s been extremely successful for us, and today’s announcement is proof that the decision has paid off for us in so many ways.

“In fact, this year marks our 40th year of operation, and we can’t think of a better way to celebrate the milestone than to invest in our future with this expansion project,” he continued. “It’s truly an honor carrying on the tradition of my father, Charles S. Young, Jr., who founded the company four decades ago.”

No production interruptions are expected during the building process, according to a company statement.
