Between keeping up with industry trends, going to meetings with clients and updating blogs and social media, the schedule of an interior designer can be hectic. For those looking to stay in the loop while on the go, podcasts offer a fun and easy way to hear interesting insider stories and learn tips on your own time.

Here are a few interior design-focused podcasts worth checking out the next time you’re running errands, driving to your next meeting or curling up on the couch with a glass of wine at the end of a long day. They’re all available for free on iTunes.

A Well-Designed Business

Host LuAnn Nigara puts out an impressive three episodes a week of her podcast for the interior design community. She interviews well-known industry professionals to gain insight into best business practices and just about any subject you could think of. Episode topics range from brand development to reinventing a firm to tips for including video on your site. She has already put out 191 episodes, so you’ll have plenty to binge listen to if you haven’t yet!

Episode to check out: #38: Patrick Cain - Resource Management - A Skill You Need to Understand to be Successful. The L.A.-based furniture designer talks about his business, his commitment to the environment and the importance of durable products.

The Chaise Lounge: The Business of Interior Design

Nick May, a paint contractor based out of Denver, interviews designers in this podcast focused on how you can grow your interior design business. May’s long-form conversations have a laid back style, and he asks guests everything from their favorite movie or drink to how they run their marketing strategy. He also puts on shows from markets like High Point and Atlanta.

Episode to check out: #82: Robin Baron: New York Interior Designer, TV personality and ASID chapter President. May and Baron have a breezy conversation on a Manhattan rooftop, and you almost feel like you're there with them. Baron chats about how she established her career, how she hires staff and how to network. 

Million Dollar Decorating 

Award-winning interior designer and author James Swan chats with designers, decorators, architects and artisans from all over the world in this daily show. Each episode is about 30 minutes long and features a new guest sharing their stories and passions. Keep an eye out for him recording at the Dallas market!

Episode to check out: #211: Barclay Butera. The renowned designer talks about how he got his start working in the library of his family’s design firm and shares what he loves most about his career today.

Clever

Designer Amy Devers and Jaime Derringer of Design Milk have in-depth conversations with professionals in the fields of interior design, furniture design, industrial design, architecture and more. The show encompasses a wide range of designer interviews, and as they put it in their intros, it’s “a podcast in which we have conversations with the super-smart people who are shaping the world around us through design.” Devers and Derringer have great personalities and balance laughs and a conversational tone with sharp questions.

Episode to check out: #3: Jaime Derringer & Amy Devers. In this episode, the hosts switch up their normal formula of having a guest on and talk to each other instead. They talk about the origins of the podcast, how they came up with the name “Clever” and their career paths.
