Golden Lighting announced this week the winners of its collegiate-level design competition open to Florida State University Students. FSU students were taught the basics of lighting design and asked to design their own LED bath fixtures.

Contestants were judged based on the creativity, functionality and marketability of their products. Golden Lighting awarded a cash prize to first-place winner Brianna Langman for her design, Vertex.

“The design was impressive because of its ability to take the environmental consideration of the bathroom mirror into account and use it as a design feature,” said Danielle Dzurik, Golden Lighting Product Design Manager and contest judge.

The two honorable mention winners were Shannon Burger and Christa Pineda, who each received gift cards for their designs.

This was the second year of the contest, which began last year at University of Central Oklahoma.

“We learned a lot the first year,” Dzurik said. “One of the most important things was that we needed to very clearly state our requirements and expectations. We chose to work with Florida State University because the school has a great design program and it is local.”

In addition to the three prizes awarded so far this year, Golden Lighting will award one more based on a People’s Choice Award. Customers and sales reps are encouraged to review the entries and vote at the Golden Lighting showroom (Suite 4909) during Lightovation in Dallas.
