Lighting & Decor's Vice President and Group Publisher Diane Vojcanin received Folio: magazine's Top Women in Media award at a ceremony in New York City last week. Vojcanin, a publishing veteran with over 20 years of experience, played a vital role in launching Lighting & Decor in 2016, and her award represented years of hard work, dedication and mentorship.

"When I look back at my mentors," Vojcanin said in her acceptance speech, "I want to say that they all led by example. They recognized, they nurtured and they respected the potential of all their teams, and that's what I try to do with everyone that I work with."

Each year, Folio: honors women in the industry with its Top Women in Media award to "celebrate women in the media industry who have stood out, taken risks and pushed their teams to new heights" in different categories such as Entrepreneurs, Up and Comers, Motivators and Industry Trailblazers among others. This year's Class of 2018 includes over 100 journalism professionals from publications such as Vox, Bloomberg, Harvard Business Review and many more. Folio: honored Vojcanin in the Motivators category, which highlights "women who’ve made an extraordinary effort, and had an extraordinary impact, on the careers of their colleagues."

Vojcanin began her journalism career as a newspaper reporter before moving to business-to-business media. In 2005, she joined Scranton Gillette Communications, which publishes Lighting & Decor and other B2B magazines, as Vice President of Custom Media, Creative Services and Content Management. In 2016, she was named Vice President and Group Publisher of Lighting & Decor, and she became instrumental in the brand's conception and launch. She holds a bachelor's degree in journalism and secondary education from Bradley University and a master's in communication and journalism from Kansas State University.

"It's been great to work with such a talent as Diane over the last 20 years," Rick Schwer, President of Scranton Gillette, says. "She's known for having a strong work ethic and multifaceted approach to media. I couldn't be more pleased that she received this award, and truly, it is well-deserved."

Vojcanin manages both the Lighting & Decor and Custom Media teams, and she has a strong reputation as a thought leader, mentor and innovator.
