North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper last week appointed Co-founder and Chairman of Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams, Mitchell Gold, to the North Carolina Child Care Commission.

The 17-member commission committed to ensuring quality child care across the state includes parents, child care providers, a pediatrician, early childhood education specialists and general citizens.

“It is an honor to be appointed to serve on the North Carolina Child Care Commission,” Gold said. “Eighteen years ago, Bob and I founded Lulu’s Child Enrichment Center for our employees’ children and the children of members of our rural community. We wanted them to have a safe, friendly, healthy and fun place to go. Lulu’s Enrichment Center is one of my proudest accomplishments and that is why I am excited to share what we have learned on this journey with the commission to help benefit all children in North Carolina.”

The commission oversees areas including nutrition standards, discipline policies, staff qualifications, transportation requirements and health and safety.

“Having Mitchell be part of the Child Care Commission is an honor and a privilege that we take very seriously,” said Kim Draughn, Executive Director of Lulu’s Child Enrichment Center. “The Commission is the governing body that writes the rules for all licensed child care centers in North Carolina. Mitchell’s commitment to quality daycare and experience in starting a center that meets the highest standards will be invaluable to the commission.”
