Leading floor covering and home accents manufacturer Nourison today announced the introduction of a new area rug collection in partnership with internationally recognized fine artist, Lida Sherafatmand, at High Point Market.
The collection, titled “Florescence,” includes five limited edition area rugs based on some of Sherafatmand's best original paintings. The rugs are each a work of art, capturing the beauty and essence of her incredibly detailed works. The five designs are titled “Angelic Night,” “When Miracles Happen,” “Pulses of Love,” “Internal World of Goodness” and “Affinity.”
"I am thrilled to partner up with Nourison for the second year around, and see my signature collection titled ‘florescence’ transformed into beautifully crafted limited edition rugs. The florescence style of my art practice is partly rooted in my Persian heritage which have turned into stunning rugs crafted by Nourison. It reminds me of the lovely Persian carpets treasured as a warm piece of decor in central parts of our homes, having a status of luxury decor in the East and the West,” Sherafatmand said.
The Florescence area rug collection will be available in standard sizes from 4x6, 5x8 and 8x10 with MSRP ranging from $779 to $2,679.
Sherafatmand is an Iranian-born contemporary artist based in Europe. Her work expresses the artistic concept of 'florescence’, a painting technique in which a multitude of small, distinct flowers are applied in patterns to form a larger image. Her floral paintings pose a challenge to the current art establishment which sees ‘ugliness’ in art as the only poignant reflection of 'ugly' realities in the world. Her genre of painting provokes one to see the serious aspect of flowers, which connects us to our instinct for beauty and emotional body.
Sherafatmand’s works have been exhibited in 22 countries and she has received a number of international awards. In addition to painting, she writes essays and poems. Sherafatmand has delivered public lectures at universities and institutions like LSE, Harvard, Amsterdam University and Roerich Family Institute and Museum in St. Petersburg, in order to create dialogue with people about human nature and conflicts in society.
