Pindler, an industry leader and international wholesaler of decorative fabrics, now offers the new Pendleton by Sunbrella collection of fabrics. The collection continues unfolding stories of the American West, symbolizing through woven material the Native American experience amidst the western frontier. Alongside nods to ancient traditions, spiritual connections and revered tribal leaders, the collection also pays homage to America’s National Parks and life in the great outdoors.

The exclusive Pendleton collection of Sunbrella fabrics was born from the idea of bringing two best-in-class brands together. The Pendleton brand is synonymous with quality and craftsmanship and has a history of design deeply rooted in American heritage. Sunbrella, a pioneer and leader in the textile industry, has established a brand built on quality and performance. Collectively, the collection celebrates the history and strength of both brands, combining the distinct Pendleton aesthetic and the enduring performance qualities of Sunbrella fabrics.

The collection started with iconic Pendleton patterns, reconstructing the traditional designs of Pendleton wool blankets for upholstery fabrics. Each hero pattern is also supported by a range of textures and patterns that, together, create a space that is uniquely Pendleton. Fabrics in the collection include:

National Park Stripes
Since the early 1900s, Pendleton Woolen Mills has honored America’s National Parks with a collection of distinctive park blankets. The original blankets incorporated three, four or five black stripes in the design, which indicated the value of the blanket. In this new fabric collection, colors and variations of the original striped theme have been adapted to reflect distinguishing characteristics of each park and blanket.

Tucson
The Tucson area was originally home to the Pima tribe. A Pima legend says that in the beginning there was darkness, from which the Creator emerged. He pulled a magic stick from his heart and formed a ball with its resin that grew into the Earth as he sang, “I make the world, and see, the world is finished … let it go, start it forth!” In this pattern, the magical creation stick helps bring the Earth, stars, moon and sun from the darkness.

Kiva Steps
Kivas have been places of worship for many thousands of years. These square underground chambers are found in Ancient Puebloan cliff dwellings of the American Southwest. A pattern of squared steps represents the physical and spiritual paths in and out of the Kiva, where modern Hopi people still gather for spiritual ceremonies.

Chief Joseph
Designed early in the 1920s, the Chief Joseph design commemorates the heroism of one of the Northwest’s greatest Nez Perce leaders, Chief Joseph. The design is balanced with arrowheads symbolizing bravery and pointing in all directions of Mother Earth.

Yakima Camp Stripes
Modeled after the material used in blankets by early shepherds to brave the elements of the Pacific Northwest, Yakima Camp Stripes in richly colored mixed yarns and iconic stripes are woven in rustic patterns that work inside and out. These stripes were inspired by the ombré blankets that cowboys carried on their saddles to unroll when they made camp after long days of riding the range.

Falcon Cove
A hidden beach on Oregon’s coastline holds Falcon Cove, a secluded spot that is home to “Magic Rocks Beach,” where ocean-tumbled stones make a rumbling music when washed by the tides. This design is inspired by the natural hues of sand, grasses and seaside bluffs that are arranged in a balanced pattern that represents the harmony of this beautiful stretch of coastline, where thousands of birds nest each year.
