Finalists for the 2019 Showroom of the Year Awards, honoring outstanding lighting retailers across North America, have been announced. The annual awards, now celebrating its 10th year, is co-sponsored by Furniture, Lighting & Decor magazine and Lightovation at Dallas Market Center. Each year, showrooms are judged on a number of criteria, including merchandising display, marketing and advertising, customer service and engagement, employee education and motivation, and community involvement.

The finalists in all three categories — Revenue Under $2 Million, Revenue Under $5 Million and Revenue $5 Million and Over — will be profiled in Furniture, Lighting & Decor’s May issue. The winners will be announced at an evening reception during Lightovation at Dallas Market Center on June 19, 2019. More details will follow.

Finalists in the Revenue Under $2 Million category are:

- Coventry Lighting & Design Center, Canfield, OH
- Denney Electric, Ambler, PA
- Village Home Stores, Geneseo, IL
- Waterplace, Crown Point, IN

Finalists in the Revenue Under $5 Million category are:

- B.A. Robinson Co Ltd, Penticton, British Columbia, Canada
- Illuminating Interiors, San Diego, CA
- Joseph's Electrical Center, Lake Charles, LA
- NorthWest Lighting and Accents, Mt. Prospect, IL
- Passion Lighting, Grapevine, TX

Finalists in the Revenue $5 Million and Over category are:

- Idlewood Electric, Highland Park, IL
- Lightology, Chicago, IL
- Lights Fantastic Pro, Lewisville, TX
- Springhaus, Timnath, CO
- Wabash Lighting, Fort Wayne, IN

“This is the 10th anniversary of the Showroom of the Year Awards, and we have been so impressed with the entrants in this year’s competition,” says Diane Falvey, Editor-in-Chief of Furniture, Lighting & Decor. The creativity, dedication and enthusiasm lighting retailers have for their businesses and communities is so inspiring.”

“This edition of the awards is ten years in the making, so we take pride that we can help honor a special group of retail leaders this summer,” said Cindy Morris, President and CEO of Dallas Market Center. “Congratulations to the finalists, and we look forward to seeing everyone in Dallas for the celebration.”

Awards will be presented in the three dollar-volume categories at the June 19 reception. All finalists will also be eligible for three specialty awards: Outstanding Merchandising Display, Exceptional Community Involvement and Social Media Star, an award that industry members help select on Furniture, Lighting & Decor’s Facebook page.

Once again, 50 percent of the scoring for the Social Media Star Award will be determined by “likes” posted to finalist profiles within the Showroom of the Year Social Media Star Event on Furniture, Lighting & Decor’s Facebook page (www.facebook.com/furniturelightingdecor). Official judges’ scores complete the remaining 50 percent of scoring for that category. This event will happen in May 2019. More details to come.

To judge the 10th year of this esteemed competition, an accomplished panel of judges has been selected. David Avrin, the Visibility Coach, is an expert in marketing and the customer experience. He delivers a profoundly insightful and hard-hitting message to business audiences across North America and around the world. Brand and Business Strategist Jacqui Genow specializes in how the many pieces of the marketing puzzle fit together. She takes an unbiased approach to pinpointing the right mix of tools and tactics for businesses and their goals. Randall Whitehead, the Lighting Doctor known for his informational blogs and videos at Furniture, Lighting & Decor, is a professional lighting designer and author. He has worked on projects worldwide and appeared on the Discovery Channel, HGTV and CNN.
