The words “flameless candle” used to make the design-savvy among us cringe. But gone are the days when the only options were glaringly plastic and obviously artificial. Thanks to the addition of real wax, flickering “flames” and technology that emits a soft, warm glow for hours upon hours, LED candles have come a long way.
And they’re not done evolving. The latest designs take the improved product and kick it up a notch with fashion-forward characteristics that are more about making a scene than melting in.
Here are three LED candles we think meet the design challenge.
Artkalia – Kalis Mood
At home on a bedside table or in the dining room, Kalis Mood from Artkalia is not about to blend into the background. Though small, the 5-inch cube packs a polished punch with features like a contemporary laser-cut pattern, stainless steel body and rechargeable LED. Users can adjust the color of the LED using a remote.
Justice Design Group – Dakota
Faux candle resin makes the shades on the CandleAria Collection from Justice Design Group look and feel like real candles. Available in several lamping options, the line’s Dakota table lamp is especially smart with an LED light source and a scalloped-edge shade.
Mipow – Playbulb
The Playbulb Candle from Mipow pretty much does it all. Perfect as a night light, in the bathroom or outdoors, this cute LED candle changes color according to the user’s mood. Simply sync the product with Mipow’s mobile app to choose from an array of colors and special effects. Flip it over, and the light becomes a holder for a (faux) tea light.
