We live in a busy world, constantly confronted with so much each day. There are interesting, intriguing and innovative ideas coming at us from every direction and in every product sector. Technology is moving at lightning speed, seamlessly connecting us to everything everywhere.

Our focus on nature and the preservation of our planet both unite us and challenge us with its protection. Often these ideas are offset by anxiety and apprehension. We have choices to make.

We opt for optimism.

Color and design trends from the recent Maison & Objet fair in Paris this fall support this hopeful desire, adding a shot of spontaneous modernity and comforting classicism, harkening back to the foundations of design.

Warm whites and the contentment of corals provide a stable starting point. Blues evoke that much-sought-after sense of trust and stability. Greens are refreshing, rejuvenating and speak of repurposing and replenishing. We take the edge off with rounded, curvilinear forms that envelop and comfort us. Textures, both visual and tactile encourage us to engage.

Now is the time for this unabashed belief in ourselves, our communities and our world. Working together, we can prevail. Stylish solutions that sustain and support us speak to the optimism of the next decade.
