High Point Market Authority will host Fitz and the Tantrums as an opening concert for fall Market.

The High Point Market Authority will host the chart-climbing  musical group Fitz and The Tantrums for a concert open to both Market attendees and the Triad community to kick off Fall Market. Rescheduled from spring 2020, the concert will take place on Friday, October 15, at High Point’s baseball stadium, Truist Point.
Tickets for the event will be free and available to citizens living within local Triad zip codes, including  High Point, Greensboro and Winston-Salem. Those who claimed tickets in spring 2020 have already  been contacted to secure fall 2021 tickets. All remaining tickets will be made available to those in  qualifying zip codes beginning on Tuesday, September 7, at 9 a.m.
High Point Market attendees will not need to reserve tickets, as their Fall Market pass will provide them  access to a special area on the infield for the concert.
“This event dovetails with our goals of infusing Market with even more energy and entertainment for our guests, while also giving us an opportunity to celebrate with the local community the truly unique relationship that exists between High Point and the home furnishings industry,” commented Dudley Moore, Jr., Chairman of the High Point Market Authority’s board of directors and President of High Point-based Otto & Moore. “There’s no place like High Point anywhere in the world, and we’re thankful  for the warm welcome Market guests receive from our local community every time they come. Even  more so now after so many months of isolation, people are ready and anxious to connect.”
“We are excited about the opportunity to create a fun, engaging, and memorable event that taps into  the transformation of High Point for both our Market visitors and the High Point community to enjoy,” added Christi Barbour, Chair of the curated entertainment task force for the High Point Market  Authority’s board of directors and founder of High-Point-based Barbour Spangle Design. “This event will  be a celebration of both our Market attendees and our community!”
The concert has received widespread community support thus far, with the Visit High Point signing on as  the presenting partner and other local entities teaming up to support and promote the event.
Supporting partners include the City of High Point, Business High Point Chamber of Commerce, Forward High Point, High Point Rockers, and High Point University.
“We applaud the High Point Market Authority in providing this elevated visitor experience for Market attendees, and furthermore, creating value for local residents to enjoy High Point’s Truist Point  Stadium,” commented Melody Burnett, President of Visit High Point. “We are happy to partner, as this  concert is a celebration where High Pointers can gain a deeper connection with our branding DNA in home furnishings while enjoying our new amenities in downtown.”
Hailing from Los Angeles, Fitz and The Tantrums formed in 2008 and have since released such hits as “Handclap,” which went double-platinum and hit top five on Billboard, as well as platinum-selling, No. 1 Alternative radio hits “The Walker” and “Out Of My League.” They’ve performed at venues such as Dick  Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve, the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, and FOX’s Super Bowl preshow. Their most recent album, All the Feels, was released in September 2019.
Event details for both Market guests and community members can be found at  http://concert.highpointmarket.org/. Ticket reservations will be available for local citizens at this link beginning at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, September 7. Up to four tickets can be reserved at one time and are  available on a first-come, first-served basis.
The outdoor stadium is currently operating at full capacity, but organizers continue to monitor the ongoing pandemic and will implement safety measures as needed if health experts update  recommendations or mandates.
