Hall of Fame designer Lauren Rottet today announced she will launch a new collection with Visual Comfort & Co. at the upcoming High Point Market.

Rottet, one of the most celebrated designers and interior architects of our time, is highly sought after for her luxurious, yet contemporary style. Her understated, elegant lighting and furniture designs grace the most lavish hotels and luxurious homes worldwide. Rottet’s keen eye for detail, scale, proportion and combining materials to create masterful designs is setting new design standards globally. Lighting has been integral to the many interiors she has created over the course of her career.

"My work evolves around manipulating spaces to feel light, open, energetic, entertaining and never boring," says Rottet. "These explorations are influenced by the California ‘Light and Space’ artists of the 1960’s and their dynamic use of light, shape, mirrors and surface materials."

“I have been designing products for 30 years, typically for my own home or a client. I always design what I cannot find,” says Rottet.

The Fascio Collection, which translates into bunch or “bundle” in Italian, is comprised of faceted glass tubes or rods that are bound together, and produced as sconces, pendant lights and chandeliers. “I’ve always loved glass,” Rottet adds.

The pieces in the collection may look simple, but they are technologically complex and complicated to design and engineer. “The technology wasn’t there to do this even three years ago – the Fascio Collection is a true exploration,” Rottet says.

The challenge was to utilize LED technology and improve upon it, removing the glare, yet not making it appear too flat. The result is a beautiful, incandescent ambient light that radiates from a glow in the center of the tubes and fading as it reaches the edges.

The collection is contemporary, yet not cold; it's well-proportioned and perfectly detailed. Fashioned out of crystal and steel, the finishes include Polished Nickel, hand-rubbed Antique Brass and Bronze.

At High Point, a Grand Opening Celebration is set for Saturday, April 6, 3 - 5 p.m. at the Visual Comfort showroom at C & D Building, 2nd Floor.
