The TEN upholstered chair from Adriana Hoyos.

As a child, Adriana Hoyos loved seeing what new furniture her grandmother would bring home from her trips abroad. Each one had a story to tell, and those stories fostered Hoyos’ love for art and design. Her new TEN product line, which debuted at High Point Market last month, fuses her passions into one gorgeous collection. Go behind the design with Hoyos as she tells us more about her inspirations.

Mixing Cultures

A deep romantic spirit is behind the TEN upholstered chair, inspired by modern architecture and movements found in nature. It reflects a blending of Spanish style and Latin American roots.

Devil's in the Details

TEN is an edgy collection that references the ‘60s and ‘70s, but with today’s modern sensibilities. The collection was in process for over a year to present new fabrics, new wood finishes, fittings and leathers. Design details give character to the easy chairs, cocktail tables, beds and other furniture items.

At a Crossroads

TEN is a fusion between style and comfort. Items in the collection were first conceived for functionality, and then shaped to appealing forms and figures. Comfort is met through studies made by the brand to verify ergonomic concerns and quality in every chair and sofa. The pitch of the seating played a big role when developing these pieces, and they are designed to fit human-scale measurements.

High Expectations

Every piece of furniture has its own unique essence; however, there are materials we use often which must fulfill the expectations and characteristics we look for. For example, the wood selected must be of high quality and durable, so we assure the table will be long-lasting. For wood, we select species from controlled forests. Additionally, high-quality lacquers guarantee greater resistance to wear and tear, so tables can excel on their performance. All the materials we use must complement each other and transmit harmony when combined together.
