Universal Furniture has added Inside Out and Sunbrella fabrics to its COM program.

Universal Furniture is significantly increasing the size and flexibility of its upholstery program with the introduction of custom materials and an expanded fabric portfolio. The move is a direct response to the growing demands of its ever-growing customer base and their design needs, and has been rolled out at High Point Market.

In a first for the company, Universal is offering a Customer’s Own Material (COM) option for all upholstered furniture manufactured at its Conover, NC, plant. This means that any piece of upholstery available as a special order can now be customized with COM, extending this flexibility to both indoor and outdoor furniture lines.

Universal is also enriching its fabric offerings by introducing 508 new indoor and outdoor fabrics to its lineup. These fabrics, sourced from renowned fabric brands Sunbrella and Inside Out, blend durability with style to elevate the aesthetic appeal of Universal’s furniture pieces.

To showcase these exciting additions, Universal Furniture hosted two activations during Furniture Market:

Inside Out Fabric Event: Experience the innovation of Inside Out fabrics took place on Saturday at 4 p.m. in the Universal showroom lobby. Enjoy refreshments from Valdese Weavers, creators of Inside Out fabrics.

Sunbrella Stain Activation Event: Took place on Sunday, April 14, at 1:30 p.m. in Universal’s 3rd-floor Coastal Living Outdoor Showroom, the event will feature Sunbrella fabrics and enticing cocktails. Sip on refreshing drinks while discovering the resilience and beauty of Sunbrella fabrics firsthand.

In addition to the significant expansion of its upholstery fabric options, Universal is extending a special offer to interior designers attending Market. Designers will receive a generous 20 percent discount on their next order totaling $2,000 or more of special order or COM upholstery. Designers can obtain the discount code by visiting the Universal Furniture showroom during Market or by reaching out to their dedicated sales representatives.

"The expanded fabric selection and especially the COM options are part of our ongoing commitment to meet the needs of our customers and especially the interior designer," said Neil MacKenzie, senior vice president marketing at Universal Furniture.
