New York’s historic Plaza Hotel received a makeover recently with the help of modern interiors magazine Elle Décor and Universal Furniture. Elle Décor called on A-list designer Sasha Bikoff to temporarily transform the hotel’s legendary Rose Club into the Elle Décor Café, a project that runs through March 31, 2020. The historic club has hosted performances by Billie Holiday, Duke Ellington, Bob Hope and Liza Minnelli, to name a few. Bikoff's redesign pays homage to the cafe’s jazzy history, while infusing it with modern appeal.

Showcased in the Elle Décor Café are several Moulin sofas from Universal’s collaboration with Houston designer Nina Magon. Covered in a burgundy performance velvet, these contemporary sofas take center stage as a dramatic focal point in the club seating areas. The intense colors are balanced with pastel fabrics from Bikoff’s new line with Vervain Fabrics.

“The project is a great opportunity to showcase our modern capabilities to the design world,” said Universal Furniture Director of Marketing Neil MacKenzie. “Being able to integrate our goods into a setting like this provides some inspiration as to what's possible with Universal."

Visitors can experience the pop-up café through March 31. The project will be showcased in the March edition of the magazine.
