One of the pieces introduced at this spring's High Point Market was the Jordan Cocktail Table.

This month, Century Furniture has expanded on its successful collection with Carrier and Company during the High Point International Furniture Market. With more than 50 designs, the original collection launched in April 2019  and included bedroom, dining, and occasional as well as a range of upholstery with an  uplifting mix of scale, materials and finishes. The new additions include new upholstery and occasional which will complement and expand on the success of existing pieces.

“Century approached us about a year ago to create new designs that could work back  to the existing collection,” says Mara Miller and Jesse Carrier, the talented duo behind  Carrier and Company. “We had the benefit of having used our pieces in projects  along the way, so we knew for ourselves what we felt was missing. We feel the new pieces will thread into the conversation naturally.”

Among the new upholstery introductions, the Gracie Chair is inspired by the Deco and pre-war glamour of Jesse and Mara’s hometown, New York City. “The Gracie Sofa and Sectional were instant stand outs from the original launch. I don’t know why we didn’t have a chair in the beginning, but we do now!” The Chair features slightly recessed arm panels, a slope-shaped arm silhouette and pretty, fluted block feet.

Another best-selling piece from the original collection is the Gemma Bed. “People have loved the light patina bronze finished posts mixed with polished brass brackets. That detail was something a lot of people responded to, and so we  tried to reimagine how it could be used on another decorative piece.  We love it on the Gemma Cocktail Ottoman and even better that Century makes this ottoman available by the inch!”

A brand new concept for this market is the Woodbury Sofa, a modern form with Walnut veneer arm panels, wrapped in fabric, creating a beautiful large-scaled sofa. “With Woodbury our goal was to add a more modern edge to our collection while still  using classic lines to appeal to transitional customers, and special detailing that  showcase custom design.”

Another new piece is the Jordan Cocktail Table. Crafted of Oak solids and veneer, the  Jordan is simple form yet sophisticated in in the detailed channel cuts at each upright. “We love this new form for its simplicity of form, but intricate details. The smoky glass adds to the modern attitude and elevates this cocktail table to a positively chic new place.”

“We are very excited about these new introductions,” says Miller. “To have the opportunity to evaluate what is working and then create beautiful new pieces to fill  holes in the line is rewarding for us as interior designers and product designers.”

Also new for Carrier and Company this market is a partnership with Soicher Marin. There space at Century Furniture showcases their new art as well as their collections  with Lee Jofa, Visual Comfort, and Loloi Rugs.
